Bilim Belek is a crowdfunding project to support Care Leavers in Kyrgyzstan who demonstrate the desire to obtain further secondary and higher education or short-term training courses to successfully enroll and achieve the qualifications necessary for employment in their chosen field.
Funding for the courses will be provided through the crowdfunding platform which was developed in 2016 under a grant from Internews. The concept won Grand Prix at the Laboratory of Media and Social Innovations in 2016 in Kazakhstan, organized by Internews, and regional experts in the field of new technologies and promotion supported the idea and assisted with the development of the Bilim Belek platform.
According to the results of crowdfunding platform Bilim Belek (Education as a gift), 5 care leavers received funding for education in institutions (colleges, universities) for 4 specialties: guide, engineer, accountant, programmer. www.bilimbelek.kg
Askar is a graduate of Chui boarding school in Tokmok. This year, Askar finished from school, he studied in the evening school to be able to continue his education.
Askar passed test and got 133 score. The training was conducted by a volunteer in the office of Oasis. Good resultss helped Askar enter to the Kyrgyz National University with a degree in Software Engineering. The contract of training was 33 000 soms. However, it was agreed to make 50% discount. Through Bilim Belek, we were able to collect 17 000 for his tuition fee.
Askar took courses in mathematics and programming at the youth centre in 2016. He really enjoyed trying to write codes, program websites, etc. In addition, Askar is an active volunteer of our fund, regularly attends sports training and very fond of playing Frisbee. He helps the children and employees of the foundation.
He started studies in September 2017, soon his first exams in the university starts!
